The broadcast networks’ desire to appeal to adults, rather than to children for which they were created, has resulted in “dark,” “edgy” programming often inappropriate for children. This is of concern for two reasons: firstly, children are still attracted to these properties. Networks and showrunners may protest that theirs is a “more adult” take on the material, and “isn’t for kids;” but the kids watching don’t know that.
